Here are some questions we often receive here at KB²C Inc:
When Kevin and Theresa got married, they agreed he would name their girls and that she would name their boys. Their family began with three lads-Kevin born in 1988, Brian born in 1990, and Conor born in 1991. When the development company began in 1993, it was named KBC, a combination derived from the three boys' first initials. When their fourth fella, Brendan, was born in 1997, the '2' was added, making the new logo KB²C. To this day, Kevin is still waiting to name that girl!
It was Kevin's desire to give his family the opportunity to experience the lifestyle he had growing up in Ireland that sparked the interest to look at Missouri's rolling green hills as their next home. They both believed their family ethics could be more easily instilled in a rural environment that would allow their boys to learn and appreciate the basics of life and nature. Missouri offered quick and easy access to Chicago where many of their businesses are located, including KB²C Developers. Of all agricultural areas surrounding Chicago, Central Missouri made the most economic sense.
After much careful research and planning, KB²C Prairies was started in late 1997, prior to the move to the Jefferson City area in 1998. It began as and remains a beef production facility today. It has expanded twice in the past six years and now totals 400+ acres of rich pasture land. In addition, KB²C's product line has diversified to include organic pork production, which is managed by the Dermody boys with their dad's supervision. You can visit them at www.nimanranch.com.
The truth is that the Dermody's don't feel like they've ever left Chicago-rather just expanded their territory a bit. They pop in and out for meetings, family celebrations and even make the trip just for a good pizza. Kevin Jr. celebrated his 16th birthday and has started his Chicago apprenticeship during the school holidays. When they lived there, they felt that they took many of the city's wonderful cultural advantages for granted. Now when they yearn for the action and excitement of the city, they use and appreciate the endless entertainment opportunities, theatres, museums, and festivals the Windy City has to offer.
